Heather GreeneArtist

Heather Greene was born in Chester, California in 1981 and was an artist before she could remember. When junior high approached she took every creative elective possible, but the small town school didn't offer much. Art was only available in college courses. An amazing amount of growth happened to her during this time. The older students gave her competition that motivated her to learn and advance her skills in every medium she could get her hands on. Heather developed her drawing skills using different grades of graphite and developed new techniques using pen and ink. She learned how to work with Pastels, Prismacolor Pencils, Nupastels, Acrylics and Watercolors. Her favorite since the beginning has been watercolor. During this same year, she entered one of her watercolors into the "Reflections Program", a statewide art competition. Her painting received best of show for the northern California region, and went onto state to compete again, this time receiving honorable mention and an award from the state senator. Heather worked at Northwoods Gallery for 4 years, and took workshops from several internationally acclaimed artists.

Heather received a full scholarship to Brooks College of Design and graduated as a candidate for valedictorian. She then became an integral part of "Kurianski Media Group", an advertising agency in Southern California. She created identities for many of their clients, as well as handling any packaging design, magazine ads, posters and organized high fashion photo shoots. She created visual concepts for "next seasons look", and presented them for approval to many hair, make-up and fashion companies in the Los Angeles area. Not completely inspired by urban life, Heather returned to her hometown to be surrounded and influenced by the beauty of the area. Within months she opened her own gallery. The Greene Gallery on the Lake Almanor Peninsula opened in July of 2004, she utilized the space to show her art, create more and teach private classes . The Greene Gallery closed it's doors in March 2007. Heather's work can now be found at various locations and pop up booths in the Chester/Lake Almanor area (click here to see upcoming shows an exhibits). Heather is currently motivated to inspire and teach watercolor workshops at  various locations and/or private "Loaded Brush" parties.

"The beauty and majesty of Northern California have captured my heart and imagination. From the beginning the process of transforming white paper into an expression has struck me as magical. And, over the years, that magical process has had its way with me, leading me from hobby to art.

Inspired by nature, I express my youth with vibrant upbeat paintings. Invigorated by a renewed sense of continuity, and awed by the mystery of how creation occurs.  I love to create using several different mediums. Watercolor is my favorite because of it's transparency, luminosity, flow and sometimes unexpected results."
